When guests visit your home, wouldn’t it be nice to have a livable space that gives them all the amenities of a home but also gives privacy to everyone? This customer came to me requesting more livable space in their basement. They wanted a full bathroom instead of a half-bath, as well as a bedroom and closet. Construction had to integrate an existing entry door, a laundry area and also had to give access to their furnace and the rest of their unfinished basement space. We were able to provide them with a complete space including a code compliant egress window, a shower plumbed into their half bath, a bedroom with closet space and bright LED lighting. The ceiling was painted dark to hide utilities, pipes and wires. The customer requested this because they didn’t want the increased costs or appearance associated with drop ceilings
